Hello All;
I have been using Vegas Video for the last 6 - 7 years. Currently using version 6c, lately I have been asked to put together a large production for my church.I've been taping the Church Construction over the past several months. NOW here's where I need help! I capture in Vegas (No Problems, No Dropped Frames) I save in a designated folder to be used in the Media Pool in Vegas. The capture is saved in AVI format (this take quite a lot of space). Is there a Conversion Software our here that will Batch Convert my video files from AVI to Mpeg2 - in one fell swoop???
After looking at some of the Guides, it looks like one or more apps. combined have to be used to make this happen.
Appreciate the help in advance
Thanks
GT

There are encoders that will batch convert. TmpGenc will do it with a little work, others may be easier. But you should edit the avi format and only convert to mpeg once you have completed your masterpiece. Mpeg is not good for editing, I am not even sure if Vegas will do it, and you would suffer quite some quality loss that way too.

I just open the avi in Vegas, encode it, then burn it to dvd. Even with all in one programs like Ulead Studio, you still have to capture, click the tab to author, then burn. There is currently no one step conversion that I'm aware of, unless you capture in mpeg format (then you can't edit without converting to avi or use an NLE real time editor), but then you have to reencode and then burn.

I have rendered many avi files to DVD in VEGAS, and then edited the DVD also in VEGAS. After edited, rendered the finished home movie into the final DVD.
The end result quality is very good, the whole proccess is smooth and no problem at all. I have created many home movies with success and watchable pleasure in this way.
