I have a movie in *avi format, I can view it on my PV with VLC player. I have Roxio5 and DeepBurner, but couldn't figure out neither of them.
    Any suggestions?

Are you having a laugh? There's millions of guides on this site that tell you how to convert AVI to DVD. Have a read my friend

Confirm with GSpot that the AVI you have is DivX or XviD.

Find out if your player can play divX or XviD. https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

If so, burn to a DVD as data.

If not, convert to DVD-compliant MPEG. http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm or any of the applicable guides in the guides section.
    If in doubt, Google it.
