I am wondering how IE caches streaming files? For example if a user streams a video 100% and then comes back later and rewatches it 4 more times as the server owner is the bandwidth used equal to only one stream of the filesize or 5 ?
And what if the user streams only 50% of a video file? And then comes back and watches the whole thing a second time. Will the bandwidth used still only be equal to 1 time the file size or will it restream the whole file from the start the second time also?
Thanks
Tom

depends on the file type. most files are saved by IE in your IE temp file folder. you can watch it as many times as you want until it is gone from the folder, then IE will download/stream it again. some files are stream only and do not cache, so if you watch it all or only part of it, then rewind or start over, it starts streaming again. each time you have to stream it again from the server, it is using bandwidth.
