  1. I am using these two programs, but I'm am like a Noob Masta to both of them.

Anyways, more to the point, Can either of these two do accurately timed text? Like, text that moves on a motion, or text that fills in with color almost like karaoke type subs.

Basically, which one has better typesetting capabilities, and how would you time it so that

    (a) It accurately is filled as the person sings.

Both use splined keyframes to define changes in parameters over time.

After effects has much more text capability but is also much more complicated to use.

If you could draw a simple storyboard, we could probably recommend a cheaper easier to use progam.

Both Vegas and AE are excellent but also, both are intended for different things. Vegas is primarily a NLE but it can handle text as well as "simple effects". Basically in my modest opinion, AE is not a NLE but a software intended for visual effects. Of course you can also edit your video files there, but it's not its primary function. AE has far much more possibilites than Vegas to do what it is supoosed to do - making visual effects, and this proggie really rocks, man. People who work with Lightwave 3D will certainly agree with me! Now, as far as I know, you can simply use Vegas for the kind of work you intend to do (it will be much easier to do the job you want with Vegas than with AE). You can simply control the text as you have mentioned, through the timeline, moving the text blocks over the video layer. It's as simple as that. There are other proggies that can handle text professionally; Boris Red is one of them.
    Cheers!

  4. Well, considering that I have both Vegas and After Effects, I will need help with After Effects.

Is there some sort of guide on how to work the typesetting of AE, and more importantly, can it synchronize individual letters like a person is singing? Any information or demo or something would help lol

If you're really serious about AE then i highly recommend the Total Training series of products..
A bit expensive, but Ebay can net you some surprising results....
There's a whole section devoted to Text alone...

    Good luck!!

  8. Read some of it, starting to understand the text scenarios now, hopefully I will get it right, my comp is too slow to play the video fast enough lol.
