I've been following this tutorial so far with out problems. http://www.bobsomers.com/articles/dvdmoviefiles4.php

It says to open your D2V project in VFAPI Reader. But every time I select the file and click open I get this error window. The only thing it says is:

    ???? C:\GUNDAM_MS08_V4\VIDEO_TS\ms08-10.d2v ?????.

Then you click the OK button, and thats it. Nothing happens. I've gone back and deleted the project and completely started from scratch two times already and I don't understand what the problem is.

  2. Have you installed the vifpset.bat.? You will see this icon in the codec folder which resides in the VFAPIConv folder. Double click the icon to install it.

Yeah, I did that, the program wouldn't run without it if I remember correctly. Because I had tried to run it once before, before installing that. Perhaps I should try reinstalling it.

A guide suggesting VFAPI with XP screenshots?? I didn't think anyone was using VFAPI since XP was released at least not for XviD encoding.

I would suggest that you switch to AVISynth. Faster encoding and better quality. Reason for this is that VFAPI means a forced RGB24 conversion, as does using VDub filters. So you go YV12-->RGB24--Resize-->YV12-->XviD instead of YV12-->Resize-->XviD.
