Are you importing subs that were previously done with DVDA? If that's the case, try to open an isntance of DVDA that has the subs, then >copy>paste to another instance of DVDA. If it's not what you're doing... Are you importing the subs to use them with another application?

i gave up and moved to dvdlab studio. i have a 30 day trial. if it treats me right (ie better than vegas does) i think that i will buy it. if not then it is out the window with it. but dvd lab is a nice program for a fair price, unlike vegas

ps vegas likes to reencode my videos too so that i can only get 3 20 minute episodes on one dvd when i had them encoded so that 11 would fit, rather crappy if i do say so

no i didnt buy vegas, i have it at school in the library lab (we have some pretty nice media pods). they have dvd architect as well and i am just sick of them doing everything bad that can happen to a dvd or video for that matter. dvdlab studio is nice, except i dont like how it handles subtitles. is there a way to make it hold off on rendering them till the end?

Yes. It asks you if you wish to render when you try to close the subs window. (Top right side of the window, under "subtitle stream" the close button.) Just choose no. You can finish your whole project, but don't forget to go back to each movie and render them before you compile.

Yes, it happens sometimes in DVD Architect 3.
    Solution:
Zoom in that subtitle. Right click on one subtitle line and choose edit. Now edit that line just as you wish, in your case - close those 2 lines together just like you would do in any text editor.
Now right click again on that subtitle on the timeline and choose "Apply formating to Selected Tracks".
Now go to File, Save as... and save your project. Close DVD Architect and next time you load that project, the subtitles should appear as edited.

There is nothing "crappy" with either Vegas or DVD Architect. If you wish to use them, you should learn how. The learning curve is not a fast one. Use help files, find and read forum post here and on Sony forums how to solve particular "problems"...ask when you need help.

    Yes, I agree. Im using:

    Vegas 6
    DVD Architect
    Nero Digital Pro
    Rejig 0.56
    DVDLab
    DVD Decoder
    Main Concept Mpeg Encoder
    Goldwave

After trying all the tools, I think these are the best of the bunch. The two Sony products are really easy to use, and subbing on DVD Arctitect is a doddle. It used to take me 3 hours to sub using Subtitle Workshop, with DVD Architect I can do one in 20 minutes.

i have used vegas for a number of projects.... i would say that i am quite good at using them, but when a program artifacts the audio, video and puts them out of sync, i would have to say that it is complete crap. as far as the learneing curve goes, i would have to say that it is one of the easiest programs to learn that i have ever seen(but it took me about 20 minutes to learn what i was doing with dvd architect, and a few hours to give up because the audio and video were out of sync). it is a good tool for what it is, but i see a large area for improvement. maybe if they fix the current problems and allow me to render video in something _other_ than vegas then i will use it more. until that day, it will be reserved for the videos that i cap with vegas.
