  1. hello,

    my question is divided in following parts.

    1.) can i play AVI files on a standard standalone DVD player that has a divx support, or do i need to re-encode the avi files to some other format.

    2.)what is divx format,is it the same as avi files. i have several avi files,when i play them using divx 6, in the properties its shown as divx 5 file. please entrance me on that

    3.)i tried to convert a mpg file to avi using virtualdub, the orignal file size was around 495mb but during conversion virtualdub was showing projected file size as 750mb, i didnt undetstand that one please help me on that one. conversion settings were as follws:
    audio:unchanged
    video:unchanged
    compression:divx6, in that i kept divx hometheater.

    i wpuld be very delighted to recieve any kind of help. thank you

    will the divx support DVD player play avi files of divx 3.11,xvid MPEG4 type of files

    1. yes, but the avi file video codec must be divx or xvid. avi is just a container that can contain different video formats. you can use gspot,avicodec to identify what video codecs that is used in an avi file.
    3. use an audio compression also under audio->compression. you can also lower the video and audio bitrate to get smaller file size.
