    I have some avi files encoded with xvid. I burned them as data and tried to play it in my dvd and nothing. it didnt recognize the disk. I know my dvd supports avi files. What am i doing wrong? can someone help me out? TY in advance

    Have you tried encoding @ 352 x 240 res?

    TY but i tried that method and it only reduced the quality. there has to be another reason why it will not play. i dont know if its the codec or what? any others suggestions. TY

    What DVD player do you have ?

    What media you burning to ?

    Does your player support the media you're using ?

    qpel, gmc, etc. shouldn't have any effect on the disc not being recognised, only on the file not playing when you select it from the file browser.

    Hi. sry i didnt include it. its an apex, it does support avi because i have another dvd wirh avi that i burned as data and it workx fne in it. for im burning to a 8x dvd+r fujifilm

    Don't get fooled. The avi may have been converted by the program you used to burn it.

    It must be a very new model. Does it say divx certified. I have had 3 older Apex and none played avi. Some models do play mpg files directly without authoring. If you used Nero to burn it may have converted the avi to mpeg without you noticing.

    Please provide the exact model number of the Apex to see if it really plays avi.
