I have some DVD movies I duped from production DVDs using DVD X Copy.

I would now like to dupe *these* disks to blank DVD-Rs. I used to use Roxio, but I REALLY don't want to install it or Nero on my new PC, since I've fallen completely in love with the freeware CDBurnerXP Pro. (For straightforward disk burning it's hard to beat: less steps, faster and a much smaller HD/RAM footprint.)

DVD X Copy won't dupe copied DVD movies, so what would be the best app to clone this type of DVD?

I'm not trying to mass-produce here, just make some backups. I had two DVDs melt in my car the other day due to the 100+ F heatwave we just had here in TX.

    Thanks!

    1. Use DVD Decryptor or DVDFab Decryptor to rip your DVD to your hard disk.

    2. Use DVD Shrink to compress the your ripped DVD in your hard disk so that it can fit into a DVD+R or DVD-R.

If you do not want to compress, then you can use a DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL(double layer). You need DVD burner and burning software that support DL.

    3. Burn your DVD.

    pchan:

I might be confused, but aren't those the steps for cloning from a production/retail DVD?

The DVDs I want to clone from are DVD-Rs, so I shouldn't have to compress them to get them onto another DVD-R, no? My impression was that DVD X Copy did the compression when I originally cloned these disks from production DVDs.

Also, I forgot to mention I have two DVD drives, a player and burner, so I shouldn't have to create an image on the hard drive, right?

Again, I may be confused here...

Ulead's Disc Creator 3 works great for me.
I only have one DVD drive so I make an .iso first.
    Fast and Easy.

Use DVD DECRYPTER ......choose ISO READ which will copy the DVD-R files to your hard drive....then use ISO WRITE to burn.....that's all you need to do to make copies of those DVD-R's.....btw if those original DVD-R's were burned with DVD X COPY you may not be able to make new copies....someone correct me if I'm wrong....

  6. If you have 2 drives, then I would reccomend CloneDVD. The clone DVD feature is great, a few clicks and walk away. If you are going to do retail, then you will need AnyDVD in combination to get by the protection.

    ...with DVD X Copy.
If 321 Studios had found a way to make their copies uncopyable, I'm sure the movie companies had jumped with joy, rather than sueing them...

DVD X Copy will no make 2nd copy. Try use DVD Decrypter to ripped your DVD-R to the hard disk. Since it's already on DVD-R, you need not use DVD Shrink to shrink again. If it doesn't work, then you need to rip from original.

Use Decrypter as stated above. Disc-to-disc copying is less reliable as it produces more errors. If you decide to use the disc-to-disc method, make sure your reader is set (at least) twice as fast as your writer.

  10. I love CloneDVD too. It's absolutely great with AnyDVD. At first I did all the cloning with just one dvd-r drive, but with two drives it's a lot easier. And all the control over annoying trailers and commercials! You can decide what to include in the disc and what not.

Okay, I just used DVD Decryptor to clone a DVD that was originally cloned from a retail DVD via DVD X Copy. I guess that makes this a third generation clone, yes?

I'm happy to report that everything looks good. DVD Decryptor apparently has no problem working with a disk from DVD X Copy.

I used the "ISO Read" (to hard drive) / "ISO Write" (to DVD-R) method as was suggested. It was very fast and easy, so I'll stick with it and avoid any potential errors that could arise from a direct disk-to-disk burn.

    Thanks again, everyone!
