Automatic Transition in VEGAS

I wonder if it's possible when creating video from JPG pictures (slide show mixed with music) in VEGAS 6, to add automatic transitions ( differend type) between each picture. It is possible working with PINNACLE STUDIO 8 with function "RIPPLE" but there is no option working with two video.
Somebody will suggest using some other programs like MEMORIES ON TV, but my idea is to put pictures on one video in time line ( pictures) and puting other video in time line working like mask ( flying baloons or something), together mixed with music. My main reason working with two video ( pictures plus mask ) is to eliminate black screen when vertical pictures appears.
For example, when working with lot of pictures (400-500), adding different transitions between each picture is crazy.

You can create automatic cross fades so that when you drop two clips on the same video timeline and overlap them you don't have to manually set the fade. You can then change this transition to any other type of transition either manually, or with the change all selected events option (all this is in the help files, check them out for details), but I cannot see any way to change the type of transition automatically in a random type manner. I am sure you could script something to do it, although how will require some reading on your part.
