Divx5 wont open?

Hey everyone i got a video that is encoded in Divx5 and it wont open in my Tmpgenc, now the direct show multimedia file reader plug has a higher priority then all the others so i cant think of why it wont work but if anyone else out there can think of anything that might help me id love to know thanks again

What decoder are you using for DX50 playback?

uhh well i downloaded the xvid codec and i was told that codec would play divx5 but hey if you can gimme some better advice id love to hear it i miss my old system could convert anything but i was dumbenough to not back it all up so yeah thanks again for any help.

It will, you need to enable it to handle the fourCC DX50 first though and just because it is installed doesn't mean that it will be used. Directshow works on a priority system, the filter with the highest merit gets used.

Ahh well it does make sense in my brain but im at a loss at to how to do what you just said haha stupid question i know but i fu can gimme some steps to take to accomplish that it would be awesome thanks

In the decoder config make sure that DX50 is checked.
