network wizard

ive got my network up and going thank god but my ploblem now is everytime i turn of the computer i have to run network wizard to connect the other computer any ideas

What type of network are you running? Peer-to-peer (meaning one PC is directly connected to the other)? Is it on a hub, switch or router? Is the other a PC? Mac?

If they are both PCs on a router, the short answer is that you shouldn't have to do that on startup. If that's the case, then for some reason your computer isn't saving the settings. Does the other computer have this problem also?

ok there connected through ethernet cable p2p no hub both running xp pro the other computer does not have the same problem

Can you outline the exact setup? Is it a straight cable or crossover? Is one PC the server (using ICS)?

I would suggest getting a router. They are very cheap and do much of the assigning automatically.

On the other hand, if your PC isn't saving the settings, the point is moot.

its a crossover cable and yes its the server computer that i have to use network wizard on every reboot

I strongly suggest using a router (especially if you're sharing broadband). It saves you the trouble of always having the "server" on.

Supreme2k was right my computer wont keep its settings every reboot it resets itslef back to before,shit anyone got any ideas on this one
