I am trying to find a Recorder that can connect to my PC via firewire so I can transfer files from my PC hard drive to the recorders internal hard drive - does this technology exist?

If not, what do I have to buy to accomplish this? I need to be able to hook up a recorder directly to my PC so I can transfer video files to it. Rather than using a burner, I choose to use a recorder.

    Thanks,
    Steve

Why? Unfortunately, I've never heard of a DVD recorder that also doubles as DVD writer. Doubt they exist.

  3. I think there is a Program that works on the "Mac" that will send DV out the firewire into a DVD recorder.

    What recorder?(I dont know).

IEEE-1394 PC to DVD recorder may work but with lots of manual handholding and realtime encoder limitations. Better to use an internal burner.

I'm still waiting for a fully networkable DVD recorder that accepts and burns transfers to the recorder's HDD.

I'm also waiting for a turn key VHS capture to DVDR solution.

Don't expect too much from first generation products.

No. Only video signal through FireWire which will be encoded to MPG2. No files as it is known in PC world.
