DivX with sound but no screen

I downloaded the app FFmpegX latest version and was trying to convert a .avi + subtitles as an "DivX" with help of mencoder like I did with the older versions of FFmpegX. But when i burn a CD with the subtitles on it, i hear the movie, but i see a blue screen

what did I do wrong and what preset do I need to set with the latest version?

If it is only an issue with your standalone player, then you should try with a short clip and encode it with different settings, lower bitrate, and use "ffmpeg DivX" and "mencoder DivX" and/or "XviD" to check which ones work.
