While PSP is a nice piece of software, it just isn't in the same league as Vegas and cheapens the whole package. Never really been much of a fan of corel. It always seemed to have a cheap feel about it. I know Sony couldn't get photoshop into the bundle, for obvious reasons, but most pros will use photoshop and probably never install PSP unless it gets a major going over with a polishing rag.

its not bundled with vegas PRO, but with the stripped down cheaper version -- in that regard it is a good match .....

Sorry, it was the platinum reference that threw me. I would have agreed about the value more a few years back, but PSP became (like so much other software) bloated out of all proportion to it features. It also seemed to get clumsy in how it carried out so many tasks. Back around version 5 - 6 seemed to be the best balance of features to footprint. I always had a copy installed for quick changes, and it worked well on a laptop (which back then was no mean feat). Nowadays it's almost a big as photoshop, and much slower, less features and much less polish. If this deal results in a major overhaul and tidy up it would be good news.

Well, for the poster who doesn't like Corel products, I'd have to say that our company installs approximately 10-12 large, multi-user systems per year for our clients. We usually are confronted with users who are married to the Microsoft myth and want to keep using their Office suites. Every now and then we come across users who have broken out of that trance and recognize that by broadening their horizons and exposing themselves to other companies' software products, they will more than likely find superior products to those offered by the Redmond rascals. We have used WordPerfect and Word in our offices for over 20 years and in all cases have preferred the intuitiveness and functionality of Corel's offerings.

Conversely, if one is used to a certain company's software and that software provides all the functionality that one needs, then there is no reason to switch.

i think they meant corel draw and or poser ...

wordperfect has always been a great program that microsoft basicly killed off till it was sold for a song ..


corel themselves have been through some really tough times ... though since being bought out by Vector Capital in 2003 (they also own REAL networks btw) they have been profitable ..
