  1. I've ripped MPEG2 files [with AC3 sound) from a DVD using Pinnacle Studio 9. I'm importing them into DVD Arch. The file fit fine on a previous DVDR. The MPEG2 file itself is about 4.1 gig. However, when I place it on my menu in DVD Arch, it says the file is 4.8 gig, obviously not fitting on a disc. Why is DVD Arch changing the file size on me, and how can I stop this? I tried numerous other files, and it's doing the same thing. Every file size appears to be larger than what Windows Explorer is telling me it is.

Although I am not an expert with DVD Architect 3.0 I would try changing the bitrate under the "Optimize DVD" area.

    1. click make DVD
    2. choose either prepare, burn, or write master
    3. choose next
    4. select optimize

The default setting in DVD Architect is 8.0Mbps and this may be why only this program is telling you your file is to big. Hope this helps

Sounds like maybe errors happened during your ripping?

Try ripping with DVD Decrypter in IFO mode. Rip as 1 big file, NO splitting. Rename your file (.vob to .mpg) for good measure. Works every time!

I have had this happen to me. I thought it was exactly what sjc160 as mentioned and it still came up so I just ignored it and still compiled the DVD. Compiled to my HD though and NOT straight to disc; just in case it was too big. For some reason the output file is NOT the same as what it is telling you. I have had several instances of this and the actual output files turned out to be OK to fit to disc without compressing.
Other than what sjc160 as mentioned i have no other suggestion; i'm sorry. Just try outputting anyway and see what the file size actually turns out to be.
