  1. Hello, I am new to burning VCD's. I made an 11 minute movie for a Christmas gift in VS 5. The first frame was my kids introducing the movie (10 Seconds) then I faded with still pictures with music. The first three minutes were stills from my digital camera, then I went with captured analog and DV for the rest of the movie with music. I outputed to my DV CC and saved it on a tape. Now this is the new part for me. I saved my final project to an AVI file and then encoded the AVI with Nero 5.5 to a VCD on one CDR, and one SVCD on another CDR. When I play back the VCD in PowerDVD XP it plays fine. When I play back the SVCD in PowerDVD the kids come on and I can hear them, then they get stuck for about 40 seconds, meanwhile the audio portion is playing with no problem. Then the picture portion of the movie will speed up and catch up to the audio part, and the rest of the movie will play fine. Its about the first forty seconds that the audio and video are out of sync. I do not have a DVD player yet to test this on a player. My homemade system comprises of a AMD 1.2 Ghz Athlon, 640 megs of PC 133 memory, One WD 40 gb ATA 100 HD, and one Maxtor 30gb ATA 100 HD. ATI AIW 128 PRO Video card. Win XP H.E. Also sometimes in PowerDVD the movie will play in black and white, I have to stop it and then restart the movie and it will then be in color. Any suggestions in plain english would be appreciated. Thank You.

  2. Also when scrolling titles play in PowerDVD on either a VCD or SVCD the titles jump up one frame at a time, and do not scroll smoothly, all the while the audio is playing fine. Any suggestions on how to improve this situation.

  3. I downloaded TMPGE and encoded the AVI to MPEG2, it came out great. I then burnt the file with Nero and it played in PowerDVD, the scrolling titles even came out good.
