Ok people, I've narrowed my capture card search to the following cards:

    -Hauppauge 350
    -ATI All-In-Wonder VE
    -ATI HDTV Wonder

I'm mainly going to be capturing TV, I don't really need it to be a graphics card to. People say the HDTV wonder has good quality for analouge TV so I included that. I really want to capture AVI but MPEG is ok too and the fact that the Hauppauge and the AiW VE have a TV-Out is great. HDTV on my computer would be nice. However it is not needed. TV-Out is not really needed either. Just TV Capture with Good Quality. Which one do you reccommend?

PS: Don't suggest other AGP AiW cards I don't have an AGP slot, and the VE is PCI.

Get the 350. Personally I would go to the Happenhauge site and purchase the PVR 250. I have been running the 250 (3 total) for 3 years. Recorded thousands of hours of video. Runnning a MCE 500 (Dual Tuner) and 0ne PVR 250 in my Media Box. College game day is no problem with 3 tuners to record at the same time. Good luck with your purchase and setup.

  3. I believe the TV out on the PVR-350 is only for MPEG files -- ei, that which can be decodec by the onboard MPEG decoder.

Correct, You can ONLY playback standard MPEG files with the TV-out of the PVR350.
    No DVD playback for example....

If you really still have a 40 gig HD, I'd get a cheaper card and get a bigger HD. The 350 will not capture to avi. You have a fast enough cpu to capture mpeg with software, so a card like the leadtek expert would be fine for capturing both avi and mpeg.
