i'm unable to burn some of my video ts folders because toast cannot compress them to fit the dvd in dvd video mode. i get an error that simply says toast could not compress the files. if i choose to burn as a data disc using dvd rom (udf) the folder is too big for the dvd. i tried converting to mp4 but my dvd players don't read that format. any suggestions?

i have v7, but i'm lost when you say popcorn??!!
something has changed though, seemingly for no reason. i am now able to drop the video ts file into toast 7 in "video dvd from video ts" mode, and it does compress to 100% disc space. but when i click the big red button (beautifuly put), and go to the next window to start burning, i click record and it gives me a new error "an error has occurered re-compressing the file"
there were no errors when i ripped this file from mactheripper, so i don't know whats up.....
can i convert video ts to something that burns ok in toast, i think thats the easiest option, if possible? -

Popcorn is a separate Roxio product desinged purely for
making DVDs. It's generally cheaper than Toast, but I
just got Toast 7 for $18 (US) via a combination of offers.
I also just used Toast 7 to make a DVD from a VIDEO_TS
folder created by MTR 3.0 (Beta 12), and had I not known
where I was, I could have sworn I was in Popcorn. No
difference that I noted. And no "re-compression" msg.
I fear I haven't a clue as to your problem, unless you
didn't get the 7.0.1 update rom Roxio's web site. -
Popcorn and Toast 7 are Roxio burning software products that both have what Roxio now calls "Fit-to-DVD" compression capabilities.
Both can take a VIDEO_TS folder and compress to fit onto a standard recordable DVD, either as-is, or extract the main video, audio and language to redude the amount of compression needed. -
thanks for the info. and it seems to work just fine for most of my video ts. just a few that have come up with this slightly irritating problem. i have found a way round it: convert to avi with handbrake, then to quicktime movie in divx doctor, then toast. picture and sound are almost perfect. it's a bit long winded but i got what i wanted, and thats the most important thing
