I don't know what's happening now, but whenever I play my movie in windows media player, vobsub plays the subtitles that it's supposed to play along with another set of subtitles that are exactly the same, but are in 12pt. arial (or times new roman, can't tell) below the movie. The movie actually shrinks to accomodate the space for the subtitles. I dont' know if it's vobsub that's doing this or not but it's pretty annoying so anyone that can help fix this would be greatly appreciated!

If your source file and sub file have the same name, and are in the same directory, then media player is serving one set of subs, and vobsub is serving a second set. Either disable the subs in media player, or change your settings in vobsub temorarily to watch the vid with only one set.

ok. It was something with my media player. I just had to revert to defaults or something....whatever. Thanks for your help!

Maybe ffdshow is used as codec and is also displaying the subs?
