    When I play videos, which are all in the DivX by the way, at random times my entire computer freezes. The hard disk halts, and the screen is a frozen snapshot, I have to completely sht down and restart. How do I remedy this?

    It may or may not be related to playing video files. Try installing and playing the files with a different player first, such as MPC or VLC, and see if the problem continues.
