  1. I use a tool called DVD Rebuilder to backup my DVD's. It comes with 3 free encoders. HC Encoder, QuEnc and ReJig. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me which of these 3 is the best and maybe the differences between them.

  2. Rejig is a transcoder and as such would be quicker and theoretically impart a lower quality than an encoder. What little I have done with the two freeware encoders hasn't shown me a great deal of difference between them.

  4. HC Encoder is well thought of over at Digital Digest. Supposedly it's quite good at low bitrates. Dunno, tried it once, it was fine, but rather slower than I'm used to. (I use CCE). The same could be said of QuEnc, slow by comparison with the payware encoders (TMPGEnc excepted!).

  5. I've used HC with rebuilder and compared it to CCE. HC had very good quailty compared to CCE but as said before it was slower. Did a big disc, 7+ GB and could not tell which disc was which. Have not tried the others.
