Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a LiteOn DVD recorder that I use to record TV show, I then burn them onto a DVD-RW to transfer to my PC an edit out stuff. I have no problem editing the VOB files into what I want, but when I author the final DVD I end up with no sound. The files play fine on my computer but when I make a DVD audio. The original DVD made by my LiteOn recorder plays in a standalone or PC with no problems. But mine does not.

Use DVD Decryptor to make 1 large VOB. Then edit this in VideoReDo, saving as a .mpg file. These files play with audio on my PC. Use Ulead DVD Workshop to create final DVD, but end up with no audio. The audio taken from the VOB is AC3. If I use another program and reencode the file with Mpeg-1 Layer II audio the DVD works, but would like not to have to reencode.

    Thank you for any help.

I thought the Liteons used MPII audio and not AC-3. Try this thread for some answers:

Broken codec???? Have you tried re-installing Workshop? (BTW, not all players will play MPEG2 audio. For maximum compatibility use AC3 or PCM audio.)

When I import the VOB I can check the properties and it says the audio is AC3 2 channel. Being AC3 I thought that was fine for Workshop, will try to reinstall.

Note: If you are using the trial version of Workshop, it doesn't support AC3 audio.

Thanks that must be what it is, I used TMPGEnc DVD author and it came out fine. Liked the Ulead but little to expensive.

    Thanks Again

Ulead is VERY nice, but discs made with TMPGEnc seem to be a bit more compatible with standalone players, IMO.
