please post both (for my own curiosity)... They are in the logs folder under where you installed the program.

Thanks ChrissyBoy. Somehow I ended up with 3 log files. It almost looks like the first run generated 2. I did notice something odd on the first run that I see in the second log file (HDTV2DVDlog-20060509222840) - I think it was Total Bitrate, it was 0kbs.

Thanks again for providing a great tool. Is there a similar tool that does the same with .avi files?

Its got the duration all wrong: thats why the video is crap. Can you try this build: http://software.badgerit.com/Releases/HDTV2DVD0.41.zip and if that doesn't improve things can i see the log for that run?

I'm actually satisfied with the pq that I have now. I think the first time there were two instances of the program running at the same time somehow. The first two log files are like 2 minutes apart. Is this a more current version or an older one?

  6. Question:

Was the frame-doubling issue ever addressed? I believe this was because of a problem with the 3:2 Pulldown?

  8. I'm VERY surprised it was never addressed here. It was apparent to everyone that saw it.

I had uploaded it back when we were trading emails. It was a problem with the 3:2 pulldown of the program.

    problem I'm having:

I have 2 HD streams, each with multiple files. Tried using 2 methods to merge them into 1:
    - merge all files directly into 1
    - merge stream 1 into, stream 2 into 1, then the 2 merged files into 1

Both give me the same problem in HDTV2DVD (and I tried both 0.40 and 0.41)
    - the total duration is not the length of stream 1 (23min) + stream 2 (25min), but just the length of stream 2 (25min)

I haven't tried to process it yet, as this is throwing me off.

Any ideas about what's going on?

Also, any plans on creating a version that can handle multiple titles?

    Thanks,
    S

I would give it a try anyway - it may turn out ok.

Also, any plans on creating a version that can handle multiple titles?
No - as SVCD2DVD handles multiple HDTV files.

Does anyone have information on the software TIVO desktop 2.3 plus? I am curious if this software will automatically do what I have been doing by caturing, editing and then using hdtv2dvd. (very time consuming process)It seems like this software would simplify the process of getting HDTV to my Ipod and PSP. If not if you could explain the difference to me I would greatly appreciate it.

Im not sure if this is the fault of HDTV2DVD or a problem with TSUNAMI-MPEG DVD Author PRO or.......
Had large .ts file and loaded it up into HDTV2DVD.I then got me a VIDEO_TS folder with VOB files.I wanted to make menus with TSUNAMI-MPEG DVD Author PRO so I attempted to open that VIDEO_TS folder in TSUNAMI-MPEG DVD Author PRO but it would not take.
All I get is FILE IS NOT SUPPORTED. (error code 0x80048003)

Anyone ever have this issue? I tried with another set of VOBs and it was fine.

Tried again with another .ts file and same thing.I get a working set of VOB/IFo files but they will not be allowed to load into TSUNAMI-MPEG DVD Author
I would like to know if this is an HDTV2DVD issue or not so I can figure this out.
I can play the DVD with software and play them burned on stand alone players fine. They are just very plain without menus.

Sounds like there is nothing wrong with the output.

I will have to move on to TSUNAMI-MPEG DVD Author support then to see why they wont load.I even ripped a DVD with DVDFab just to see what would happen and those loaded right up.That is why I was thinking it was an issue with HDTV2DVD output files.
I know I have seen in the tools comments for HDTV2DVD that others have indeed loaded the files into TSUNAMI-MPEG DVD Author. For whatever reason I cant.

That didnt work either. So I put it through DVDFab Platinum and made a copy and it then worked.
I would like to know if others have had this happen. Why is the output doing this.It is strange that they can be opened with other programs like DVD Shrink and DVDFab, but not with TSUNAMI-MPEG DVD Author. There has to be something missing and I wonder if that is VIDEO_TS.VOB
I never get that file.Only VOBs I get have numbers in them.Maybe this is why? Maybe I need that VOB file ???

Using a 169time satellite rig and CAPDVHS for hard drive capture, I have used a similar method to this post to create perfectly synchronized, nearly artifact free VOBs. Here are the times required to create a 2.8GB DVD from an OTA 1280x720p 1 hour broadcast: remove commercials using HDTVtoMPEG2, 11 minutes; create TS-VIDEO file with HDTV2DVD, 1 hour 32 minutes; burn to DVD with SONIC at 8.0x target speed, 10 minutes.

In short, one can produce a DVD in less than two hours using this terrific tool. Thank you very much, ChrissyBoy, for slicing through the Gordian Knot so efficiently.

    Thanks for the kind words....

burn to DVD with SONIC at 8.0x target speed, 10 minutes.

I would have thought it would be less than that.... Maybe ImgBurn along with another of my offerings would give better results?

Can this program be used with HDTV mpeg2 files to make DVD compliant mpegs, rather than transport streams?

My HD Capture card (Medion) uses Cyberlink PowerCinema which captures 1440x1080 12800 kbps MPEG2 (field order is upper frame first) audio Dolby bitrate 256 kps

Currently Ulead VideoStudio takes 2hrs per hour of captured HDTV to encode to DVD compliant mpeg.

  23. What are the chances we'll eventually see a new version of HDTV2DVD? I love the program, as it's the only easy way to convert TS files into compliant DVD's, but it would be nice to have more control over bit rate settings when making dual layer discs. Currently, a 3 hour football game, when done for a Dual Layer disc comes in at around, 5.87GB's, leaving around 2 GB's of space on the disc that could have been allocated to the bit rate.

Any chances we'll see a new version anytime soon? Or would SVCD2DVD do the same thing that HDTV2DVD does, and give me the control over the bit rate?

    Thanks for the great app.

You might try HDTV2MPG or something like that, with the file size set to 5MB or something smallish. Then drop those files onto one of CB's programs. It will take a while to get all those assets loaded, but you have the advantage of seeing which segment causes ffmpeg to fail (it's likely a commercial or something where they were flipping switches at the broadcaster).

    ChrissyBoy,

    A feature request for SVCD2DVD....

I hope it isn't in there already (I've been happliy using 2.1.2272 for a long while...not paying attention here much). WAIT! What am I saying, of course I hope it's in there!

The feature: A way to pause processing.

On your suggestion, I crank-up several copies of SVCD2DVD and start them doing conversions. But there's a bug in the MyHD/MyIRC code that doesn't start a scheduled recording when I'm doing a conversion (or two, or three). Once the recording starts, it happily records while the conversions are going on, it's just that starting bit. I've tried twiddling the priorities through the task list with no joy, so I thought if there was a 'pause processing' button, that would be cool. I'm afraid, though, that once it's sent off to ffmpeg, it's sort of out of your hands. True?

    Another n00b to HDTV2DVD here...

Captured from Motorola 6412 using CapDVHS. One hour SD show with resulting TS in the 1.5Gb range.

If I don't click AutoFit, I get a resulting file that's slightly too large to burn. So, I deleted the file and folders and tried again; this time I clicked AutoFit. The resulting file (both the SD2.mpg and the VOB files) are around 450Mb and of course at that kind of compression the video is rather bad.

Why would the program AutoFit a 1.5Gb file to 450Mb when it has 4.37Gb to play with?

Seriously, any thoughts as to why it's doing this would be appreciated.

One other oddity I noticed is that the progress bar at the bottom starts at 100% after pressing the Process button, and continues into the hundreds of thousands of percents.

I guess it's possible that these symptoms have something to do with the solution I posted to another problem here:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=310942

    but I'm hoping not.

    Have a great day, guys!

One clarification... I had my input files mixed up in my head. The one giving me trouble is actually a TWO hour show resulting in a 4Gb file after removing commercials with HDTV2MPEG2. The rest of the story is as described earlier. The resulting file after using AutoFit is about 500Mb. The log is attached (hopefully).

    Thanks!
