I assume SoundForge still uses directX plugins. If so, try this: http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/vremover.htm

Once you download the installer, run it. Do not move anything to the sony directory. DirectX plugins do not really have anything to do with sony, other than Vegas can use them. Once installed, start up vegas, and on the audio timeline, add a filter. You could have one called "AnalogX vocal remover".

It looks like it needs to show up in the plug-in manager (Ctrl+Alt+0). To apply, it can be selected from the Effects Menu. Please verify!

All this work and I have a feeling you're going to be disappointed. There is really no way to remove vocals unless they're on another separate track. And it that's the case, then just don't use the vocal track.

  13. If your vocals are already mixed down to your music it will be practically impossible to remove them. Any Plug-in you user wil most likely leave your music sounding like crap. If its a popular song you might be able to find a Karaoke version.

  14. Well, you could do "the trick" manually - this is all the plugins do:
Take one channel, invert it, sum both channels to mono. Ta-da. Now you have your very own crappy sounding karaoke.

You can maintain some of the bass that gets removed by copying the original file, lowpassing it around 100Hz, and mix pasting that back in after the cancellation routine.

as was said by others, don't expect much.

Probably the best way to remove vocals is using Adobe Audition's center channel extractor. It has a vocal remover option that is definatly better then the invert and sum filter that most audio editors use for vocal removal. It still won't be perfect but a lot better then most audio editors vocal removal filters.
