  1. I use divxtodvd to convert media files to .vob files then get dvd shrink to analyse but really just to convert them to a .iso file which i then burn with cdburnerxp. The problem is for some reason every know and then while the dvd is playing i get some squares it does it every now and then thought the dvd. I have checked the media file on my pc and its fine and have also checked the iso dvd shrink creates by mounting it on a virtual drive that is also fine. I am assumed it was the burning that was the problem so i lowered the write speed with no luck and burned the iso with dvd decrypter and still the same result the squares still appear. Has anyone got a clue why this is and how i can fix it, cheers.

Bad Media - You did not provide type or source
Video sources - You did not provide that.
How many TOTAL viewing minutes of video did you try to convert to a single DVD/R - Need to know that
What color are the squares? Are they green, or are they simply Macroblocks. Green Pixel looking squares could be due to bad media. I'm sure others can better expain possible sources for that.

Macroblocks are due to over compression ( too low a bitrate ) as in when trying to squeeze more the 90-120 minutes of source to full DVD spec video on to a single disk. They are often seen on areas of fine gradation like a spanse of sky or a wall that gradually goes from light to slightly darker. It is really apparent in high action scenes.

Your extra step of converting your VIDEO_TS / AUDIO_TS folders to ISO by running it through DVD Shrink should not have any bearing on the outcome assuming it is not introducing anything, other than simply converting it to an ISO. Try burning that ISO to DVD with DVD Decrypter instead. May or may not help. Around here, DVD Decrypter is held in very high esteem. I also believe it is the best way to burn ISOs.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  3. Thanks for the reply jtoolman2000 sorry about the lack of information the media is Ritek White Full Face X8 Speed, the length of the home movie is about 57Min long. The squares are not green im not sure if they are macroblocks as i don't know what that is but they look just like the video but just moved and blurred. On my original post i mentioned i did try to burn with attempted to burn with dvd decrypter it worked but still the block appear.

Edit: Well i thought i would try the burned disc in my ps2's and there was no block's what so ever it must be my Pioneer DVR-420H dvd HD recorder. Any suggestions why this is im thinking it does not like the media its on any recommendation on good media?

If you have Nero, run CDSpeed quality scan on the dvd. I bet you will find that the quality isn't very good. Ritek media are extremely iffy..
