  1. I have been having a problem with DVDLabPro and Xvid files. I encode 4 divx files using VSO's Divx2DVD, which converts it straight to DVD with no menu. I took the 4 vob files created with Divx2DVD and import them to DVDLabPro so I can make a basic menu for the files. Upon importing I get a message claiming that the chapter points might be off due to "open GOPs." I continue and make the menu, set a few chapter points, compile and burn. The video quality is great. I am very happy with the video quality I achieved. The sound is in sync except when you go to the next chapter it takes a second or 2 to resync it self which is fine. The chapter points are a little off. They were a bit (1sec) earlier than where I put them. When trying to seek (rew/ff) the DVD skips by chapter and since there are only 2 chapters it seeks back to the menu. It doesnt scan forward like every DVD known to man. I researched this and found out I might have a UOP set up. I checked in DVDLabPro and I had none. I checked the disc made with Divx2DVD and the scanning WORKED fine. I ripped the DVDLabPro disc with DVD Decrypter and disabled all UOPs and the problem persists.

If the Divx2DVD burned disc can seek with no problem and the DVDLabPro burned disc can't seek there has to be something I am missing.

Does anyone have any insight or thoughts on what could be going on? How would I go about closing a GOP?

Does anyone have a suggestion of an easier process to create a simple DVD with a menu and muliple episodes of a tv show? Of course there would be no problem if Divx2DVD had a menu creator. The quality is great but no menu!! Thanks in advance.

When you imported the vobs, did you demux them ? (You would have been prompted to do this)

Did you frame index the assets ? (this improves chapter accuracy)

The open GOPs are not causing your problem. I get that message with every asset I create, whether it comes from CCE or DivxtoDVD, and have never had the issue you are experiencing.

  3. First off thank you for replying to my post.

When I imported the VOBs I was not prompted to demux them. I just imported them and got this message:

Open GOPs were detected in this file.
The file may play fine but chapter points may not start accurately.
In your encoder always select close GOPs to avoid such problems.

As far as frame indexing it does it automatically in the compile process. I had that checked.

Would it fix my problem if I check Demux all to ES on the compile page?

If you go to Project --> Project Properties --> Options --> Demultiplex option , you can set preferences for demux when adding VOB file to a project...

  5. Would the fact that I didn't demux them possibly be the answer to my problem as far as seeking is concerned?

  6. I decided to try the whole process again however this time I checked the settings on Divx2DVD. I turned off the chaptering in that and decided to chapter in DVDLabPRO. I demuxed and chapetered and it worked fine. No seeking problem and nice quality. Thanks for all the help here.
