    I've been fruitlessly looking for some region free firmware for my Sony DRU-540A. My other Toshiba finally crapped out, so I can't play foreign DVDs without changing the region anymore.

    If anyone could give me a link to some firmware to make it region free, I would appreciate it.

    Have you tried DVD43? Its not firmware but software that will run in the background making your drive region free. It also overrides some copy protection. Very similar to AnyDVD but it wont work with CloneDVD2 - on the plus side though its free

    I'll try DVD43. Thanks for the help.

    waheed - I found that site with google, but unfortunately they don't have a region free firmware update for my drive.
