It's just an added value. I don't think it increases the price at all, at least not up to the price of what apple is charging. LCD is expensive, and probably the most expensive component of a flash based MP3 player. Apple forgoes this highly useful viewing tool and instead charges you a premium for a non-memory expansion, non-playlist oriented, thinly built, and cheaply made product. I love the iPod and wouldn't trade mine for any other except maybe a full media player, but the shuffle is a complete waste of money considering the possibilities of other flash based players at a considerably cheaper or even similiar price.Originally Posted by shelbyGT

Well, while I'm not going to defend the shuffle as the points you make are valid, I will say this:
I have been very pleased with my shuffle so far. I've had it for about 4 months and it has yet to not work properly at all (can't say the same for my ipod). I kind of like the fact that I don't know what is going to play next.... hence the "shuffle" aspect. I load it up with songs from my "workout" playlist and head to the gym, not knowing what to expect. Heck, even my ipod plays on random 90% of the time.
All I'm saying is that while the points you make are valid, the negatives don't outweight the pros for everyone.
