    Major/Anyone,
    using ffmpegx build 0.0.9.t

encoding Mpeg-1 files to .mov so that toast can process to DVD.
Encoding seems to go ok, but when I go to play the files back in Quicktime,
I get the following error message:

"You may experiece problems with the video track
because of problems with the compressor.
Would you like to close the movie or continue?"

I choose continue, and the audio is great, but no video.
Same file in VLC 0.8.2 plays fine.

my system: OS 10.3.9, Quicktime 6.52 Pro, 2GB of Ram.

For some reason it seems to encode MPEG-4 with the 'DIVX' fourcc..? (But VLC reports the fourcc as 'mp4v'.)

You can change the fourcc to the regular 'mp4v' with MetaHoot, or install the DivX codec and it should play (though for some reason the file beachballs QT for me when DivX tries to play it).

Ok, I de-installed the DIVX 6 beta that I had,
and re-installed the DIVX 5.21 proper release from
the website. I am getting the "green screen" at the
front and bad lockups when scrolling through the file
in QT, as reported here below.

I will try running the file through DIVX Doctor II to see if
    that corrects the file.....

Try also to uninstall DivX and install 3ivx; that might work (since 3ivx also handles the 'DIVX' 4CC). Be advised, though, that 3ivx seems to have problems with QT7.

yes, not using QT 7...too dependent on QT 6.52.
3ivx is installed already ( notice my Divx Doctor II comment),
    so I will test shortly....

Divx Doctor II process the files, and gets rid of the
"green screen" at beginning, and makes the video file type
    "generic mpeg-4".
