  2. Hi.

I've owned a DAV-309 for more than a year and I have had a lot of fun with it.
I use the VCD function frequently and I think it's very good. I get very good picture and it switches between PAL and NTSC as if it didn't care... In fact I don't think it does...
Sound quality is very good on either of the three methods CD/MP3/VCD even though in my version the X-bass doesn't work with MP3.
Well, well... the bass is so hysterically overdriven on most mp3 rips so it doesn't matter...

On my version (early model, crap compared to the new models) there is 3 seconds anti-shock on MP3 and none on the other two, but the mechanism is very stable so a car ride in an Opel Corsa 85 is no problems for the DAV-309.

Battery time is OK. It'll last for about 2 hours when watching a movie. And as you can imagine VCD is pretty power intense. The Li-Ion battery still as new after all the abuse when I've been yanking the power chord in and out all the time...

The 316, being the -what - 4th version? probably have been improved quite a bit, and I've heard the anti-shock is one of the very large improvments... Though I wouldn't go jogging in the alps with it...

    Conclusion: Yea, it's good.
