  1. Hi all,
I am looking for a dvd recorder that has a program guide kinda like tivo..except without the monthly fee I was wondering if I was able to use one with DirecTV. If I am able will I only be able to record the channel that I am watching..or can I record another while watching something else. Any recommendations for good ones?

  2. I have a regular Tivo. How useful is the basic Tivo service on the 810?

  3. I think there's no way to watch a channel and record another with a regular Directv receiver. Here, in Brazil, there are SKY+ receivers that have 2 tuners. They have a built in HD and work almost like a Tivo.

  4. I currently have a high def receiver being used for Directv. I have the triple LNB dish. Does that make a difference or not?

  5. I think the receiver (decoder) makes difference. I think triple dish is to permit you connect three decoders to one dish. You need a Tivo with Directv receiver. Tivo for itself cannot decode Directv signal. You can, also, connect Directv video output to DVD recorder (or Tivo), but you will record what you'll be watching.

It can be done if you have only one TV in the home and a Dish Network 322 receiver. This receiver has TV1 and TV2 outputs. Connect one output to your TV and the other to your VCR, Capture card etc.
