We've got one in our media lab just purchased SR-MV50 model. Speaking generally DVD recording quality is the same as in all JVC DVD video recorders line (not sure about BD-X200). VCR video quality is about similar to other JVC S-VHS decks (Have tested VHS playback only. Have had no experience with S-VHS playback or recording on this unit yet) At least picture quality of VHS playback is pretty much the same as on my HR-S9911 S-VHS VCR. So I'm sure SR-MV30 is the same performer.
