Trouble with Nero and Viewing

okay--I THINK I know how to basically burn a VCD, but Nero refuses to use my CD-R. Anyway, I made the disc, and Nero said it converted my MPEGS in the format I needed...then I saved the image and opened Disc Juggler, burned the image, and...when I used it on my DVD player, the menu came up, but i couldnt view anything. Im pretty sure my player supports VCDs, its an Apex...why isnt Nero acknowledging my burner?!? Can I fix this?!? WHAT CAN I DO?!?
