I've read in several places that tmpgenc's audio engine is not that great. My question is: Is it worth it to use an external encoder like toolame to process the audio files rather than tmpgenc's? Is there a very discernable difference in the sound quality? Does it do anything to mitigate the watery sound you get with avis with mp3 audio tracks? TIA for any and all replies.

Hi NoFace,
I've set up my TMPGEnc Plus to use tooLame and SSRC.
I have to confess that this was done back when I first started out and I didn't challenge the current thoughts, and my settings haven't changed since.
I've never actually compared the two - on top of that, I'm tone deaf and so probably wouldn't be able to spot anything except obvious differences.
Of course, there's also the GIGO concept.
GIGO = Garbage In, Garbage OutThere is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.
