  1. Usually when i have 2 mpeg1 files i use TMPGEnc to convert to dvd one at a time then use the same program to join them under tmpge tools..
which works ok but it means i have to be at the computer to start the second encode.
what i want to know is there a way to join them before encoding so as i can just start the encode and then go to bed..

I wouldn't normally recommend you join them BEFORE encoding-can cause some slight problems; sync issues for example.

It is possible to encode several files at once with TMPGenc; I do it all the time because although it is a very good program it can be quite slow; especially if you are using some of the filters.

What you need to do is when you get to the end of the project wizard and it prompts you to 'Start encoding immediately', do NOT have that box ticked; Highlight the next box, 'Create another project for batch encoding', this will then start the project wizard again for the 2nd file/3rd file etc etc. On your FINAL file, then check the box for 'Start encoding immediately', this will now start ALL batch encodes. Thats it! They should be all done in the morning!!!!!

Now you can join together seemlessly with your DVD Authoring program-TMPGenc DVD Author for example.

If you're not using the wizard, batch encoding can still be set up in TMPGEnc.

I'm at work right now, so can't recall exactly how to do it, but I do remember it's farily intuitive.

have you tried a forum search? This has been asked before...
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

  4. Set up your first file, click save project, set up second file click save project. Now select batch encode, import both projects, click start.
