Hi,I need really help.I edited 61minutes of my DV AVI footage in Premiere and then used Mainconcept to encode it.I shows some artifacts and picture isn't so clear.I was expecting better picture as I used 3CCD camcorder.
Anyway later I tried to save project in Premiere as AVI and then imported to
Adobe Encore.I heard Encore is good in encoding because it calculates everything for you and doesn't waste a space. But picture wasn't so good.

Please can someone tell me how to encode it??Should I use VBR 2 pass or CBR.Footage is mainly from my vacation. And what encoder to use.

    Thank you so much

There are a couple of things that you didn't mention in your post. What audio bitrate are you using? When you say Mainconcept, does that mean that you are using the Adobe Media Encoder? I would recommend using the Adobe Media Encoder straight out of Premiere rather than rendering to AVI and using Encore. From what I understand, Premiere and Encore use the same exact MPEG-2 encoder from Mainconcept. I would also recommend using the Videohelp bitrate calculator at https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm . Plug in the length of your program and the audio bitrate and the calculator will tell you what average bitrate to use in Mainconcept. For your maximum bitrate assuming that you are recording to DVD-R, choose 7 Mbps. Your video sounds like it is short enough that you can use CBR. Also, don't expect that the DVD will look as good as the video out of camera. I have a Sony VX2000 3-CCD camera and my DVDs never look as good as the original. At the very least they have lost two-thirds of their information by going from DV25's 25 Mbps to the typical DVD's 7 Mbps.
Tools used: ScenalyzerLive 4.0, Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, Adobe After Effects 7.0 Professional, Adobe Encore DVD 2.0, IFOedit 0.96, DVD-lab PRO 1.53, Adobe Audition 2.0
