Well, after trying for so many times using the tutorials in this site and failed several times, I figure I will just ask the questions. Don't worry, I used Search. :P
Anyway, the first question: I got a Japanese movie, subbed with Chinese sub (BIG 5, I believe) and in MKV. Using Virtual Dub, I was able to separate them into two parts, audio/video and the .srt file. Now, I need a program to join these two with the subtitles actually showing and the quality kept. Well, after trying all the programs in the tutorials, none of them work. The biggest problem I am having is that I can't view the CH subs; I can view them just fine when I open the .srt file with Notepad, but when I try to attach it with a program like AVI2DVD, the preview shows a bunch of codes I have no idea what are they. The same goes for WMP and VLC player. When I try to watch the original MKV file in VLC player, it shows blocks. How do I fix this?

Depends what format you hard sub to. If you re-compress to a lossy format (MPEG2, XviD, etc.) then you are going to loose quality.

It doesn't matter what format I am going to convert it to, as long as I can make a DVD with it without any loss of quality.

Well that is the point. You can't. DVD is MPEG-2 and MPEG2 is lossy.
For a DVD I would recommend authoring with seperate subs. If you check the guides there should be some on authoring a DVD with subs.
