    Hello,

    I try to convert WMV to DIVX with virtualDUB-mpeg2. but virtualdub can not open the WMV. could someone help me ? do i need to install wmv codec ? and how i install it with virtualdub-mpeg2 or another version of virtualdub ?

    I don't know if VD can handle WMV, but you might try Stoik Video Converter; https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=Stoik_Video_Converter.

    EDIT: Looks like if you just need the codec, ffdshow should be able to handle that.

    You need version 1.3 or earlier of VDUB to open wmv/asf (thank Micro$oft for that).

    Also, the older version of VDUB only works with the older wmv files.

    Open the WMV in WindowsMovieMaker (WMM) and save as uncompressed or DV-type AVI. Then convert the usual way...

    Don't know if this works with DRM/WMV9 files (haven't tried, but I doubt it). If not, you're SOL, unless you want to shoot your TV screen with a camera.
