  1. Bought my friend a Hp lightscribe dvd burner as a xmas gift, he bought a laptop and decided to get rid of his home pc, so he bought a external case that would allow him to use his internal HP dvd burner w/ the the laptop, the only problem is the drivers that came w/ the drive are only for the internal model, and HP wants him to pay them $10 for them to send him a copy of the external drivers. I have went to drverguide.com and checked two dvd firmware pages, can someone direct me to a site that has them online, or email a copy, I have a easynews account if you wanted to forward them their, that would work as well. Thanks !!

If I'm not mistaken the drivers you would need would come from the external case not from HP. What is the brand of that external case? Not all external cases will be compatible with internal dvd burners. For instance for BENQ 1620 drives using a external case with the PROLIFIC chipset that works well. I've read the PLUMAX enclosures use the PROLIFIC chipsets.

  3. I'm pretty sure the drivers he needs will come from Hp, because the internal drivers don't recognize usb as a option only master slave and cable. So even though he has the 640 software installed the software can't detect the drive.

    Thanks
