    Ok i would just like to state that i have read many guides and i understand a little but am having alot of trouble.
    I recently got a new DVD player and it cant play divx so i need dvd formats.

    I download alot of movies in:
    .bin/cue
    avi.
    divx
    xvid

    format, i want to covert these 2disk movies into 1 disk dvd that will play on my dvd player with chapters every so often and in the best quality possible in the shortest time possible.

    I have looked at many different guides but i haveread so many different things. I also have a problem getting the software so can anyone help me out?

    Ok you can use virtualdub to merge the two avis together into one avi. Then you can use tmpgenc to convert the avi into a dvd compatible mpeg2 file. From there you can author the mpeg file in any dvd authoring program like tmpgenc dvd author. In the authoring programs you can make menus and chapters.

    Will any of that cost? Is there not a way just to add the .vob files so it will play on dvd players?

    There are some free divxtodvd converters. Check the list baldrick posted above.

    But you said you had divx not vob. If you already have vobs you can make a video_ts folder and a audio_ts folder and burn them as your main directories. Then assuming the vobs are compliant it will work. Though you'll have to author them to make menus. Check the tools section for low cost or free programs for the task.

    thanks for that... I guess I'm about to ditch avi2dvd, seeing that I've had so many problems with it, and apparently many others did too, judging form the rating. I notice that DIKO got the highest rating... and is free! DO you agree wiht this rating? what is your personal choice for all-in-one converters that support multiple subtitles and (if possible) audio streams?
