I've been having some trouble trying to find some software that can play DVD movies in Windows 98...everything I've tried installing crashes either when launched, or when asked to play a DVD, and most of the programs out there now seem to be for XP, or at best, 98SE+ (but this computer is first edition).
Any ideas as to what software should work?
(I would ask in the DVD Player forum...but that's designated as "hardware", this is a software issue, as the drive is working fine...so I thought I'd try here)

It would be useful to know he computer specs the DVD is trying to be played on.
What software have you tried. Try media player classic.
Maybe your old win 98 PC does not meet min spec needed to play DVDs. -
Does Win98FE even have native DVD drive support? It maybe easier to find the upgrade disc for 98FE->98SE since they were practically giving them away. It will be easier for any future installations to have the 98SE instead of FE.
