I just downloaded and installed Subtitle Workshop along with the codec linked to the same webpage. I get no audio when I play an avi clip. I have search Subtitle workshop's webpage but found no answers. I registered with their forum so that I could post this question but have still not received permission to post. Can someone give me some suggestions on where to start?

    Thanks

  3. hi!

I had the exact same problem a few days ago. Turns out, I hadn't configured ac3 correctly, but had never noticed because I play my files on vlc. When I started to actually do some work, the misconfigured codec gave me that problem. SW was working well, but I couldn't hear the audio because ac3 had the volume too low and/or wasn't specifically configured as the default decompressor. Once I reconfigured and restarted SW, it worked a wonder.

I read about others with this problem, and often they've had SW trying to play the audio with ffdshow or some other compatible method. They solved by either configuring ffdshow to not play ac3, or uninstalling ffdshow altogether.

That being said, it was working a wonder for a few days until right this moment (found this post while searching for a solution). suddenly, out of the blue, I'm out of sound again ...while working on the same file!

are there any other ideas out there?

[EDIT] Sorry! my bad! It wasn't the same file... I misnamed my files, and I was trying to have SW play sound on a soundless avi....

Stupid question, but how did you reconfigure ac3? I had a look around but I couldn't figure out how to do it o.o; *is blind*
