  1. I just talked to a friend, who I made VCD's For about a Year ago, and they played fine in both of the DVD players, that she has, But now she is telling me, that the VCD's, that I made for her, is not playing in either DVD players. I don't have any Idea why they won't play now, but the only thing I could think of was to tell her to Unplug the DVD Players, then wait a few minutes, then plug them back in, and try cleaning the Disk, to see if that would work. She told me the message she is getting when she puts in the Disc, is "No Disk". She told me one of her Players, Is an "Apex" I do not know the brand of the other. Thanks In Advance for the Help...

  3. Or conversely, her DVD player may be breaking down.
As I understand it, DVD players that play CDs use two different lasers (one for the DVD and one for the CD) and as the player ages, one of them can get out of alignment. I've had a DVD player that has ceased to play CD-RWs because of this.
The true test would be to attempt to play the VCDs in another DVD player or in a computer CD-ROM drive, and see if they work there. If they do then it's her player, and if not then the media has gone bad.

Yeah try a computer drive. They can play anything you throw at them basically. If you can't play it on another player than its probably a bad disc.

    Sweetfreak:
    1) The original post said that the VCDs played in the past in her 2 players and given that Apex never manufactured a VHS/DVD combo player, that's not the problem.
    2) "you're mind is and open boooook..." ???
You need to go back to school. There are 2 bad grammatical errors in that sentence. I leave it to you to find them.

Either the media has gone bad or the laser used by the players for playing CD discs is going bad on each player. The media can be tested by playing the disc in a PC. If it plays, the disc is OK. The laser can be tested by playing an audio CD. If it plays, the laser is OK.
