Hello everybody,
I have a little test with VHS. I have 4 pictures. First 3 pictures was captured with virtualdub using picvideo mjpeg and huffyuv codecs. After i using Pinnacle studio or Sony Vegas to make MPEG. 4th picture was captured with software of my capture card Winfast PVR2000.
So, lets see:
First picture- captured with virtual dub using picvideo mjpeg codec with quality 20. One minut used 600 MB
Second picture-captured with virtual dub using picvideo mjpeg codec with quality 10. One minut used 87 MB
Third picture-captured with virtual dub using huffyuv 2.2.0 codec with best quality. One minut used 500 MB
Forth picture- captured with softvare of my tv card with 6000 bitrate
Conclusion:
Pictures 1 and 3 using 600 mb for minute. 4 picture using 90 mb for minute. Quality is the same. So, capture in MPEG is very usefull and good.
thats all
best regard

This is the 3000CBR video encoded directly from the source AVI:
This is the 3000CBR video encoded to a 8000CBR MPEG then reencoded to 3000CBR MPEG:
