I know this has been covered at least a million times, cause I've read them and followed everything I can, but I still have the problem with my backed up DVDs.

I reauthor to remove all the menus and extras to get the backup to fit on one DVD-R with DVDShrink.
    I use high-quality DVD-R (Taiyo Yuden from SuperMediaStore.com)
    I record at 2X
There are no labels on my DVD-R
My stand alone players are under a year old, both Sony Precision drive 3 progressive players. (DVP-NS41P and DVP-NS575P)
My backups play correctly in all my computers DVD drives.

It looks to me like it's my standalone player, but they are both new. Is it that I have progressive scan players? Which it shouldn't, I would think.

I would buy new DVD players if it would fix this and I knew which one would work better, the highest rated one is a older version Sony than what I have.

Sorry to revisit this beaten dead horse, but I'm at wits end.

You may have some counterfeit TY discs. Try getting a different brand and see if the problem persists. What is the media ID of the TYs that you have?

DO not fill the complete disc. I create a custom target size for shrink to adhere to and NEVER have such a problem with any back up. Set it for 4300mb You will not really see the diference in quality. It wil let the data burn just before it reaches any possible unstable area on the periphery of the disc. That is why you are stuttering at the end of the movie.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

My stupid DVD player here at the office can't read Media ID sorry, but I do buy them from Supermediastore.com and they look like they are suppose to according the the "how to detect a fake TY" document they posted. Then again, they could be just conning me.

Also, it plays correctly in a computer. I did you use DVDInfo to do a read error test on the entire disc and it came back fine (all little green blocks)

Real TY discs should have no problem putting 4,707,000,000 bytes on a DVD-R.

Try advdinfo.zip to read the media ID.

I fill up my TY discs to the max, the full 4.37GB (4488MB) and never had a problem playing the whole movie.

Even though TY are excellet brand of discs, it doesn't mean it will be compatible with every dvd player. You could test out by buying different media such as Verbatim, Ritek etc.

Since I just got my order of a 100 of these TY discs. (I'm trying to back up my ENTIRE DVD collection) maybe I should just switch to a "more understanding" dvd player.

Actually, I've tried other disks with the same results in the same players. Well actually I've tried them on the 4 different DVD players.

Tthe previous ones 2 were older so I figured that was the problem. So I bought 2 new sonys and it's better, but it still happening.

It seems to me that I'm just doing something really stupid since everything seems to be "right" but I'm still faced with the problem.

    Any recommendations ?

I just checked the media ID and it is TYG01, so I guess it's the player or maybe my burner.

Another possible problem is the speed you are burning at. If the disc is rated for 4x, and your burner is an 8x burner or better, you may have better results trying to burn at least 4x speed. On WWW.CDFREAKS.COM, there are numerous instances where users have had problems trying to burn slower than the rated speed of the media, especially with high speed burners (ie: 12x or 16x)
