forgive my termonology first off but here it goes.

well I'm trying to take my avi version of final fantasy advent children and make it a correct resolution for a dvd. The resolution on the avi is wacky though it's 608x336. I'd like it so that the video doesn't even go a pixel off my tv screen. I've always had problems with this. I'm not a newb when it comes to this (I promise) It's just i've always had a hard time resizing it right. If there's an easy way let me know. Of course I'd like to keep it close to the same aspect ratio. If there's anything else you need to know let me know I can get you specs with virtual dub. I can use other tools that you suggest tools I'm experienced in many. Usually what I do is open up the avi is demultiplex the video from the audio using tmpgenc by encoding it at a very high bitrate run it through dvd-lab or another tool that I use made especially for vob multiplexing. Then I compile the dvd then burn it. I still to this day don't know how to encode it so it doesn't trail even the slightest bit off my tv though unless if the source is a normal resolution

    thx in advance,
    Kgonepostl

  2. Hi-

If there's an easy way let me know.

FitCD. If you insist on not losing any picture to the overscan, then use the blocks overscan setting in FitCD. It varies by TV, but 2 blocks is often nough.

alright, what settings do you suggest I change. I don't know how to use this program. Please refer to my previouse post before you post. Because it takes about 15 hours to encode.

  4. What is your final output? DVD or DivX? If DVD then,

    AVISource("F:\source.avi")
    LanczosResize(672,352,25,8,557,320)
    AddBorders(24,64,24,64)

    Thats your 16x9 to 16x9
    Quality is my policy.

  5. Try this: Open your 608x336 source in TMPGEnc, before encoding press the Settings button and go to the Advanced tab. Set Video Arrange Method to Center Keep Aspect Ratio. That will give you an active picture that's about 608x306 in a 720x480 frame.

TMPGEnc's resizing isn't the best but it's easy.
