I edited multiple avi files and made them mv2 with tmpgenc plus, all with the same settings. No audio included (till later). I want to author with tmpgenc dvd author.
1) If I add up all my mv2 sizes example: 500mb+400mb+98mb.....and so on, would that give me an accurate total to fit on a 4.7gb dvd?
2) How close to 7.4gb should I get without going over?
3) In tmpgenc dvd author, which way would be best to menu each of my mv2 files on my dvd, for example: The choosing the first clip for each mv2?
4) how many menus will tmpgenc dvd author support? I have at least 9 small mv2's that I will try to put on a dvd.![]()

Hi-
They're M2V, not MV2.
1) It's 4.37 GB, and not 4.7 GB. Since you're working in MB, you might be better off keeping it in MB. DVD+R hold 4483 MB, and DVD-R hold 4487 MB (I think). If you aim to keep it under 4480 MB, you should be OK. In addition to the MB size of the audio and the video together, there's also some muxing overhead. If you aim for 4450 MB plus the overhead, again, you should be OK. And this assumes the size of the menu will be small. If you want fancy animated menus, then the audio+video size should also take that into account. As it is, a few still menu screens shouldn't take up more than 5 MB or so, and my original video+audio estimate of 4450 should be OK.
2) Again, it's 4.37 GB. I aim for between 4475 and 4480 MB (or 4.37 GB out of a total of 4483 MB=4.377 MB). This assumes you're using quality DVDs. Some of the crappy ones might display freezing and/or corruption on the outer edges, in which case, you want a lower size.
3) I don't use TDA, but when creating menus for multiple videos, assuming I'm not chaptering each video, I'll just have one menu screen with all on it. Then I'll have a "Play All" button, and buttons to go to each video. Up to you how you want to do yours, but even having a screen for each video won't take up that much space, and I don't know of any authoring app that can't handle 9 menu screens. But, like I said, I don't use TDA, and I'm sure someone else can answer that quesstion more fully.
4) Like I said, I'm sure it supports more than 9 menu screens, but don't know how many exactly. I would think the manual would tell you. -
Oops later: DVD-R hold 4483 MB, and DVD+R hold 4487 MB. Had it backwards. And if you make an ISO before burning, it may take a MB or so. You don't want to push it to the very end anyway.

1. As manono has mentioned, you should think of ~4450 MB for a standard 4.7GB disk.
2. What about your audio streams?
But even if you add up the sizes of all m2v + mp2/ac3 files it still is to less, as the multiplex overhead is missing. See also here: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=278684GUI for dvdauthor:
