Are you trying to use the AC3 ACM decompressor in TDA for editing purposes so you can hear the sound ?

Can you provide a little more info ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Exactly

I'm a bit disapointed that we've to pay $30 for the "TMPGENC AC plug-in" so I was wondering if the freeware "AC3 ACM Decompressor" can do instead

    Thanks

TDA is predominantly authoring software. IMHO you should prepare your sources properly so that there's no need to edit in it.
    If in doubt, Google it.

The $30 TMPGENC plugin is to convert your audio into AC3. The AC3 ACM Decempressor can only be used to play AC3 audio. If you want to convert to AC3 for free use besweet.
