I'm trying to create vcds for playback on a variety of players, including software players on the MAC. One of our employees has a new powerbook with a DVD player. When I load the DVD, it reads all the file names, and directory structure of the VCD, but the DVD player software doesn't recognize it.
I used Nero 5.5.2.3 to create the vcd. the settings are as follows:
X create standard compliant cd
encoding resolution NTSC
-----
menu is disabled
-----
ISO Level 1
ISO 9660 Character Set
-----
I'm not even sure if the standard dvd software for the mac can play vcds. also, how can I tell if I'm creating a vcd 1.0 or 2.0 with NERO? Since I am only trying to create vcd 1.0s right now, is nero the best application for me to use?
Thanks for the advice

Are you sure the DVD player reads VCD's? On my notebook (PC), the OEM DVD Player doesn't play VCD's. I have to use a separate player.
For Macs, try Quicktime.
